New AG Items? Dude.

I'm sure you're all aware that AG has recently released new items. Oh yeah. Exciting.
Actually, I'm genuinely excited about some of the new things!
So are you ready for a wordy post that probably won't make a whole lot of sense and have tons of opinions?!? I AM!

So we have the two new MAGs. I have to say I really like both of these girls. It's honestly been bugging me for a while how AG didn't have a MAG with brown hair, dark eyes, and light skin who didn't have bangs. It's a weird thing to bother someone, but I'm glad they finally got their stuff together. This is a pretty common combination, I'd have to say, and it's about time!

Now this one. I love her. Far too much. I am so happy they finally have this lovely girl. I think the black hair-blue eye combination is really stunning and she is definitely on my list.
Aside from the fact both of these girls have the same style of wig, I'm really happy with these releases. But the same wig style? C'mon guys, you can do better than that.
These outfits. Where to begin? Well, I like that hoodie. The stripes are really cute, and since AG is AG they have to have a cutsey pattern and not leave us with the grey stripes I would ideally want. However, I think they did pretty well with this outfit. They also get major cool points for color jeans. (they loose a few for orange though) The shoes are simple and would match a lot, but neither them nor the pants look like very good quality from the website. Definitely not $30...but it's still pretty cute. But I'm not spending $30 for orange jeans.

And that green shirt is alright. Plus those yellow shoes. Man, I don't know how often I have wanted yellow shoes that aren't doll crocs. No sarcasm. Seriously. But these pants. My goodness these pants are awful. One thing I dislike more than I should is denim, non form fitting, doll pants. These are painful for me to look at. I'm being pretty hard on AG now, but I just can't stand these. The outfit wouldn't be bad if they included, say, a cute skirt or maybe took the idea of color skinny jeans and went with a bright blue to match the other embellishments. But these pants are an atrocity.

Now! The red outfit! I have nothing bad to say about this other than the now standard ridiculous AG price. It's red. It has a sweater. A lively patterned skirt. And my goodness those shoes. I want those for myself. That list is so many of my favorite things that I just can't even anymore. So I love this one. I want it. I want it on my black hair-blue eyed dolly. YES.
This thing is cute~ It's kind of pastel for my taste, but I still love it. It's also pretty laid back (not really how I like my doll fashion....). But the pieces would be great. I love AG's leggings! And that shirt is so unique! It would look nice with the white pants from the 2 in 1 Beach Outfit from 2008. It's not bad. I like it pretty well.

Now I'm going to omit things. This could go on for months if I don't.
I feel like I must talk about this.
Just this idea amuses me far too much. The colors are cute, and for the target age this thing is genius. Besides, I have this odd fondness for circus dolls after reading a certain part in a certain manga. I personally have no reason to get this, since it's almost forty bucks for a cute dress and a bunch of stuff I wouldn't use. But hey, it's still really cute. Even though the dress looks like that gross kind of fabric that's kind of but not quite tarp-ish. Do you know what I mean? ....okay, yeah that was a horribly worded sentence.
You're shoe quality disappoints me, American Girl. I expect better of you.
(This is the Witch Costume, if you're wondering.)
I like this new hoodie. It's red. And sparkly. And a semi-reasonable price!

Ooh~ Saige and her pretty hair~ I don't really know what to think of this one. I'm not really too big on her Southwest style, but I really like that blue color of the shirt. Plus the white pants, I like white doll pants. But I'm still not too sure on this. It looks really nice together, but it seems rather simplistic and kind of boring to me. But it is under thirty dollars. Oh yeah.

Well, next time I'll do some accessories. And maybe that locker. And eventually I'll get to the post on our wonderful Molly. Oh my... It upsets me whenever they retire a doll. Especially now that the first four will be gone.

So, in what I have done so far, on a scale of stars with gold star for excessive awesomeness being the top, and red star for showing up being the lowest, I would have to give AG's stuff a green star for participation. The quality is staggering lower as we speak, but I'm too in love with that new MAG. So it evens out.

I would love to hear your opinion on the new AG stuff (or your opinion on my opinion as long as it's polite ;D) in the comments below!
 Good day, my love!

Photography Time Again

Hello there!
Ahaha... it's summer and I still don't post. But I am now, right?!

Anyhow, yesterday I spent a few hours editing some pictures! They're kind of older, but I wanted to show you anyway! These aren't all of them, but a couple had people in them. :)
There's Hina, with a tea cup! This was a part of a photo story that turned out pretty blurry...but this one was so nice I had to share it!
Lanie cosplaying Elizabeth Midford from Black Butler. This was just before my first convention as another Black Butler character....so I couldn't help it. Lanie makes a fabulous Lizzy.
This post wouldn't be complete without Ddalgi! This is from really early in the year, but I just got a decent edit done. I thought this pose was just too cute!
More Hina.... on a chair.... on a shelf...with her cute little red shoes...and a Rozen Maiden reference. She adds "na no" onto the ends of her sentences, which apparently means "that's why" or "because". I was looking for a quote of the character but found this instead... but Hina's cute enough on her own.

To encourage myself to post more frequently and get out my camera more, I've decided to do another photography challenge this year! Last summer I did a 30 Day Photography Challenge and it was a lot of fun- and challenging!
So this year, I'm one upping myself and doing a 31 day challenge! Ahaha...bad puns.

Pinned Image
Technically it's for the month of May...but whatever. This was my favorite one! My mom found this on Pinterest and I thought this would be the most fun. The guidelines seem more vague compared to what I did last year. This really excites me because I'll have more places to go and more creative photos to shoot! :D

I'm not sure exactly when I'll start this thing off. I may or may not have a convention this weekend and I wouldn't want to start it right before I (hopefully) leave for Indiana.
This being said, with a few days before I begin, I challenge YOU to do this with me!
*cliche Uncle Sam poster here*
If you're up for my challenge, then please comment or email me at lovethatdoll(at)yahoo(dot)com with your posting url! I'd be happy to include your link in my first update and would love to follow your progress along with my own!

Thank you guys for sticking through with me, I love you!
P.S. If any of you would care to look, I created a Tumblr earlier this month! It's not doll related, and mostly anime related stuff. But if you would like to drop by here's my url. :D

Hair Tips: Magic Brush~

Well, okay it's not really magic...
But it is pretty nice.

I've mentioned briefly before that I recently started to cosplay, and this requires wigs, for humans. So my mom and I went to a local Sally Beauty Supply to get a wig cap (it's to keep my hair back~) and while we were there I also got a special brush for my cosplay wigs.
This brush is from Satin Strands (that's what is says on the handle) and it's made differently from the brushes from American Girl. Instead of having the metal bristles which AG suggests for doll hair, this brush has plastic loops!
But wait, this isn't what AG says to use!
Well, it's still designed for wigs! I've had great success with this brush and my wigs, so I decided to try it on my dolls!

Molly and Gwen both got to try it, and it was a great success! (No pics, sorry.) It didn't damage hair at all, and even softened Molly's usually frizzy hair.

I also tried this brush on my Pullip dolls. A lot of people don't have a good experience brushing Pullip hair, their stock wigs are pretty low quality and they don't go well with the brush AG sells. My friend Miranda had a rather bad experience with her Pullip wigs and AG brushes.

So, I took a chance with this and tried it on Nite (who is Chelsea, she has a new name). Her wig is still soft and beautiful! It didn't create any frizzing like AG brushes did when I brushed her white streak as a test. The Satin Strands brush kept her hair smooth!

Then there was Hina Ichigo....
BEFORE brushing....
and AFTER~!
I think she looks much better, this brush definitely helped with Pullips at the least! Hina even looks more like her character out of Rozen Maiden now!
(Not mine) source
Her curls are bouncy, with a little bit of styling, and stay in a cute, innocent look which is perfect for Miss Hina.

So, if you're looking for a new doll brush, I would recommend looking into these! I found mine at Sally Beauty Supply but they're probably found other places, too!
The brush I have is sized for humans, as it is for a cosplay wig. However, they have a smaller, more doll friendly size as well. My brush, Satin Strands Looper Paddle Brush, is priced at $6.99 on the Sally website right now. The smaller one was even less. (The Sally website is out of stock on them, so I don't know what it was exactly.) Compared to AG's $8 brush, plus shipping, I'd say it's worth a shot. ;)

Thanks for reading!

I am not affiliated with any company mentioned in here, nor am I trying to sell you anything. I just wanted to share my discovery!

Summer Time is Here Again

Hey guys! It's been like a while and stuff.
But guess what? I'm out of school now! So I have time! TO BLOG!
"Ladies," McKenna began with an overly serious tone. "The time has come."
 "For summer to begin!"
"Why are we standing so dramatically?" Dodo asked in her cute, Dixie accent.

"Because we can," answered the ever defiant Mia.

"Now we have time to take photos,"McKenna went on, stepping forward slightly. "For plot and character development."
"And update our YouTube channel," Gwendolyn spoke to the side, but with equal volume to her voice.
"Or maybe do another photography challenge," Julie continued.

"And maybe do something as awesome as I am!" Mia exclaimed, thrusting the skateboard into the air.
"Or even get a new friend," Jessica added, sliding the sunglasses on her face down the bridge of her nose.

"Alright guys! Let's do it!" Julie leaped forward and happily encouraged the start of long awaited summer activities.
"Or, ya know, we could go inside and do next to nothing."
"Oh yeah, that sounds nice too."
"Yeah, I think that's great right now."
"Guys....?"

TADA!
Now, on a serious note.....
Last summer I was all about these big plans and stuff, well this year is really different. I had a really difficult year at school and I really need a break for my personal happiness. So if I'm really lazy, you'll know why. Most of you probably know running a blog can be stressful and I really want to take full advantage of my stress-free summer.
Also, I have to take a summer gym class so I'll still have limited time. Plus I have three books to read and an Algebra packet to do....
I just want you guys to know this, and please understand. I really love this blog and all of you, but things happen and sometimes I can't be as loyal as I would like to be.
I've also had a lot of computer problems recently, so that is also another cause for my absence.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you'll stick with me! LET THE GAMES BEGIN~!
